General consultancy ($180/hr) covers ingredient research, problem diagnosis, regulatory guidance, and working through specific formulation challenges. Formulation troubleshooting ($230/hr, higher rate because diagnostic analysis is more complex work) is for when your emulsion is separating, your preservative system is failing, or something has gone wrong and you need to figure out why.
